The Brunch Spot: Disappointing Bloody Mary
The Brunch Spot: Disappointing Bloody Mary
With all the Instagram buzz around The Brunch Spot’s bloody mary, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, this was a case where the hype didn’t match the reality.
The Drink
The bloody mary at The Brunch Spot looks impressive in photos, but that’s about where the positives end. The drink itself was a letdown in several key areas.
What Went Wrong
- Watery mix: The base tasted diluted and lacked depth
- Over-garnished: So many garnishes it was hard to actually drink
- Poor balance: Too much celery salt, not enough spice
- Cheap vodka: You could taste the harsh alcohol
The Garnish Overload
While Joe’s Tavern nails the garnish game, The Brunch Spot goes way overboard. We’re talking:
- Entire shrimp skewer
- Bacon-wrapped scallops
- Cheese cubes
- Pickled everything
- A slider on top (seriously)
It’s more like a meal with a bloody mary attached than an actual cocktail.
The Price Point
At $18, this bloody mary is priced like a premium cocktail but tastes like something you’d make at home with store-bought mix. The high price seems to be paying for the Instagram-worthy presentation rather than quality ingredients.
The Atmosphere
The restaurant itself is beautiful - all exposed brick and Edison bulbs. It’s clearly designed for social media, which explains a lot about their approach to the bloody mary.
The Verdict
This is a perfect example of style over substance. The bloody mary looks great in photos but fails to deliver on taste. Save your money and go somewhere that focuses on the drink itself rather than the presentation.
Rating: 2/5 stars
Would we go back? Only if someone else is paying, and even then we’d order something different.
